And what it really needs to heal
The Inner Critic is that inner voice that keeps
telling you you're not interesting, smart, beautiful, skinny and good enough. It’s that voice in your head that looms up when you just decided to step out of your comfort zone and do something exciting, something unfamiliar. It is negative about more or less everything you say or do and the way you look. It makes you believe you aren't able, can't, shouldn't, and aren't allowed to. It creates anxious, fearful and paralyzing thoughts. And it makes you feel like you’re never enough, right?
This is how your inner critic feeds your insecurities, and it makes you feel as if you’re in a constant inner battle with yourself. A battle you can never seem to win. It's also immediately there when you set a new goal for yourself, just when you wanted to get into action. It devalues, disapproves, judges, accuses, blames, condemns, attacks, demands and compares, and on an on and on…. Your inner critic knows exactly how to fool you and how to undermine your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It’s like living with the handbrake on. You’re not living your soul’s desire when you let your IC run the show. No matter how hard you push the accelator. Therefore, our Inner Critic is THE most important obstacle to self-acceptance, self-compassion, trust, and the fulfilment of our true potential. It stops all growth, your inner development. It steals your power, and makes negative self-talk the norm.
Let's debunk some of the myths around the inner critic and discover what your inner critic is really craving, and how you can start to heal it.
